Summary
Belly crossed the kitchen and rested her hand on the back of a chair, grounding herself in the solid wood beneath her palm. This was all suddenly feeling so fucking surreal, she was half-surprised her hand didn't travel straight through it like a ghost.
Her body was humming with it—a low, contained panic that she couldn’t settle. And she knew she should say something else now. She knew she should be talking more. But then footsteps sounded in the hallway before she could gather her thoughts.
Summary: An alternate Season 3 where Cousins feels extra crowded and a lot of dubious decision-making takes place. (Or: Conrad never got therapy, he ended up with a girlfriend instead, and nothing is making much sense.)

He hadn’t even noticed. Hadn’t heard the footsteps. How could he? If he was too busy being consoled by anyone else but her. Belly stood there. The plate was filled with his favorite things. And felt like a fool when the chick asked:
“It’s that for us?”
Us. Us? Fuck. Her breathing was uneven, and a fresh wave of sadness hit her.
Conrad lifted himself off her, sheepish and rumpled. His eyes were dark, rimmed with red and exhaustion.
Belly hated herself for loving someone who clearly didn’t want her.

It’s reckless, really, how quickly she decides to throw good sense and rational thought out the window with one half-whispered, half-moaned “I have an IUD” against Conrad’s neck. She doesn’t know his recent sexual history – if five years can be considered recent – and he has no idea what or whom she’s been doing in Paris, but when Conrad looks at her with hooded eyes dark with unbridled desire, she can’t stop the words from tumbling out of her mouth.
