Summary

Summary

Childe knew his overzealous nature had gotten the best of him here. Fighting an Archon was something he was prepared to do, but this was more personal.
Embarrassment over falling for the Archon's mortal act and mislead information about his mission from the Fatui barely had time to settle since the incident. Childe was forcefully distracted by a sudden visit, initiating new recruits, and running around the whole of Liyue putting money in the right hands all for the Fatui’s returning political standing rather than dealing with the desperate itching emotions stewing in the back of his mind.
That is until he takes an opportunity to escape his political confines to complete a contract with the Archon.
Perhaps he would die by the breathtaking man's hand. Or maybe Zhongli knew exactly what he needed instead.Bookmarked by SLTCKZ

As the disk of orange dipped below the Liyuan waters and the twilight sky remained illuminated by dusky remnants of what had been, Zhongli’s golden-edged features took on a radiance of their own. It wasn’t the lights playing tricks on him when Childe saw the man’s eyes gleam, and he craved to know what that meant.
“Perhaps I give you too much credit.” He was smiling, now, and Childe’s breath caught in his throat. That was certainly new. “Maybe you do not listen as much as I thought you do.”
Childe processes just how different Rex Lapis, God of Contracts, and Zhongli, Wangsheng Funeral Consultant, really are.
They coincide at the worst of times, and it does some truly awful things to his heart.
