The noise must have been loud enough to reach Shane too, because he turned his head, his eyes just slitted and open enough to find Ilya’s despite the trainer’s warning to keep still. Ilya’s breath caught. Shane—his Shane—looked so scared, with tears running down his face and mingling with all the blood.
His mouth moved. It was more unintelligible sounds, really just a breath of air, but for the first time Ilya saw it. He knew those syllables, he had seen them pass through Shane’s lips only once before, on a night he would never forget.

Summary

Then Margaret and Philip Buckley die in a car crash and Buck finds out they had a condition in their wills: his inheritance will be held in a trust until he turns 40 or until he's been married and cohabiting for at least one year, whichever comes first.
Tommy thinks it's a bad idea to get married for fake reasons, but luckily Eddie volunteers. They're just two best friends getting hitched, platonically! Right?
