The fading sunlight from the tiny barred window set high in the wall catches on his face, in his eyes, and Zoro is suddenly sure that they are not and have never been black. They’re a dark, dark, dark red, and there’s a light behind them that sets his teeth on edge.
Zoro is suddenly sitting up straight, hands itching for a hilt.
“I don’t make deals with devils,” he says.
History is out of joint, the seas have risen, and the World Government is at endless war against devils from humanity's darkest imaginings.
No better time to set sail.

When he steps outside, squinting against the sun just past the horizon, Shanks is already looking up, tilting his hat to shade his eyes. There's a black dot in the paling sky, rapidly growing, and now that Benn's outside he can hear what Shanks meant, too- there's a faint sound that might be shouting and might be laughter.
Benn squints. "That's not a person, is it?"
"Can't be," Shanks says, then pauses. "In the Grand Line, maybe, but that sort of thing doesn't happen in the East Blue."
"Not reassuring, Captain," Benn says dryly.
(Or: Some eleven months into the Red-Hair Pirates' stay on sleepy little nowhere Dawn Island, the sun falls out of the sky.)

When Via opens her eyes she has to blink several times to clear the spots out of her vision. She can make out the distant shapes of her father and his boyfriend, both of them furiously rubbing their eyes.
Loona is nowhere to be seen.
‘Did I do it?’ she thinks with a giddy sense of relief.
But then something small stumbles into her legs. She looks down and a hellhound pup with big, red eyes stares up at her.
Staring at the child, it takes Via way too long to realize what just happened even though the signs are all there. The familiar grayish fur, the spiked dog collar hanging loose around a thin neck, the band t-shirt almost falling off narrow shoulders and looking like a nightgown the way it flows past knees, the empty pants pooled around small ankles.
It takes way too long.
“Oh shit.”

A magical mishap turns Loona into a child for 24 hours. Not only does this give the hellhound the chance to experience a childhood she never had, it also allows Via to see a side of Blitzø she’s never noticed before and maybe even bring her and her own father closer again.

When Loona is sixteen, they call her pretty. “Very pretty,” they say and won't meet her eyes. “Someone will come for you very soon.”
When Loona is seventeen, a weird little imp comes for her and she knows exactly why.
Or
Loona thinks there is only one reason why someone would adopt a sexually mature hellhound. She never expected someone like Blitzø to come for her.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Luffy asks, managing to sound both accusing and deeply hurt. "I'm your Captain. I need to know these things. Or did you think I wouldn't support you?" Now he sounds just hurt. Disappointed almost. Zoro, being the good first mate that he is, looks torn between puzzled irritation and the overwhelming need to comfort his captain.
Nami wonders if she is going to die from lack of oxygen.
"Well I do!" Luffy exclaims with thrust out chest and full blown pout. He puts his hands on his hips and declares: "You are my Nakama and when you are happy, I am happy."

Nami really doesn't mind explaining unfamiliar concepts to her captain. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with him.
It's too bad he sometimes takes her quite literally.
(Too bad for Zoro and Sanji at least. Nami is having the time of her life)

During a fight in the middle of a gale, however, and an inevitable entrance in a Rainbow Mist, an unplanned time travel intrudes on the plan to find the last Road Poneglyph and make Luffy the new Pirate King.
