Caden must learn to trust again, battling her demons from her previous life, possibly even finding a new family if she can stop resisting her fellow Wardens attempts at kindness.
(Content Warning: there is an attempted sexual assault early on as per the city elf origin details, and it leads to some flashbacks throughout the story)

Iselan, a fire-wielding, emotionally constipated ancient elf with a tragic backstory and zero chill, reluctantly joins a mismatched group of weirdos (the Inquisition) to stop the apocalypse from destroying the world (a second time). She just has to make it through this without anyone finding out she's older than the dirt they're standing on.
Alongside Nellas, a knife-happy Herald with too much optimism, a broody bald apostate who’s clearly hiding something (but has great facial symmetry), and a sarcastic dwarf who’s seen too much, Ise battles demons, dodges feelings, accidentally flirts with the Fade, and maybe—maybe—starts to love again.
(Also, someone stabbed her in the tit, which feels metaphorically important.)
