Davy Jones stood over the once grand Admiral Norrington. The poor fool had been run through by Bill Turner. “James Norrington, do you fear death?” Jones snarled.
James took in a shuttered breath, wanting to ram his blade into the blasphemous creature before him, his fingers twitched ready for that to be his last act on this earth. It seemed to be the only choice he had but something stopped him.
‘Take the deal…’
A voice he had never heard before glided past his ears. Could it be? Was some deity interfering… or was his mind slipping away as he succumbed to his wound.
“I do.” He strained to speak, not once taking his eyes off of Jones as he lied through gritted teeth. Some thing felt the need to put a stopper in his demise. An outside force was forcing his hand.
The beady eyes of Jones went wide, clearly that was not the answer he expected. Now he would have no choice but for James Norrington to join his crew. But there would be no trust from his new captain. No, he was carted straight to the now empty brig.
What possessed him to take Jones’ deal in that moment would be a blight on his mind for years to come… until, that is, he was fated to meet a stranded stranger.
