Summary
In December of 1990, Jonathan decides to go back to Hawkins to film his senior short film at NYU. After convincing Will to star in it, his co-star unexpectedly drops the film, leaving them with no choice other than to cast the only boy in Hawkins that would agree.

“Uhh, yeah? I mean the character is loosely based-,”
Max burst out laughing, “and you're the Paladin? Oh my God Mike-,”
“The hell is so funny?” Mike snapped.
“You don't even?” Max scoffed. This is why Mike didn't like talking to Max. She spoke as if she knew some joke that flew right over Mike's head, and Mike had a feeling he was the joke.
“Mike. I don't know how to tell you this so I'm just gonna say it,” Max started, “The Paladin is in love with The Sorcerer.”
Mike groaned. They stayed silent for a moment. Max waiting for a reply and Mike cringing at the revelation that maybe this ran deeper than he thought. Maybe the critics weren't wrong. Maybe Heather, along with the rest of his fans, hadn't been crazy after all and hadn't completely misunderstood the text he'd spent seven years writing.
“Why does everyone keep saying that?” He finally grumbled.
Or, In 1996, Mike releases a book inspired by the party and their adventures. A small but loud fandom forms around shipping The Paladin and The Sorcerer. But, that was all wrong. Mike had never been in love with Will, had he?

After a long week on the run, fighting (and winning) a rumble, and witnessing what he thought was his best friend's death, Ponyboy falls ill. When he wakes up from being knocked out for three days, he has only one thing on his mind--seeing Johnny. Unfortunately for him, Darry won't let him until he "proves" he's feeling better. This leaves him with lots of time for bonding with his brothers and thinking about the slightly more-than-friendly feelings he's discovering he has for Johnny.
Rewrite of the ending of the book, directly following the rumble scene in chapter 9 -- formerly called overcoming and beating the odds
