Amaradangeli wrote this fic called ‘Ad Arbitrium’ – Chapter 8 of ‘Into the Grey; and in it Sam and Jack are sheltering in a cave. They are sitting on the ground having a conversation about sex that I have loudly adored for a long time; and then one day I accidentally stole her premise and the next thing I knew they were doing more than just talking.

Unadulterated geek!smut with some plot thrown in for good measure. At least I tried before things went... down (or up?), the way such things usually tend to go. ;) No periodic tables were harmed (much) in the writing of this fic. Concrit welcome. Heh.

It’s not about the game, then. It’s about ritual. It’s about seeing Sam’s competitive glint in her eye and the still-there stubborn jut of her jaw because she’s alive and she wants to win. It’s about seeing Jack’s slow, lazy grin when Sam curses that her king has been taken again and the cocky way he points to his chest and says, “Tactician.”

When Sam tells Janet that there’s no problem here, she means it. She’s something of a wonder at compartmentalizing, tucking away the feelings that can’t or shouldn’t be, the emotions too big and overwhelming to express.
And then she works herself to the bone, rewrites the laws of physics, gets him back from Edora and realizes maybe she isn't compartmentalizing as well as she thought.
