“You don’t talk, Patrick! And when you do, it’s only because I’ve either coaxed it out of you or you hold it in until you blow up. And then look what happens!” David waves at the area around him like all of the past instances have just appeared mixed in with the foliage, and all Patrick does is continue to stare, his jaw set. “You come out and say that we’re not hitting our projected margins after I find that spreadsheet just open on your computer. How long have you been keeping this from me?”
He says nothing.
“Weeks? Months?”
“Not months,” Patrick utters, eyes still on David, who scoffs.
“Not months,” he repeats bitterly. “What does that even mean?”
“It means that I didn’t want to worry you!”
