"How long, hypothetical speaking, would it take your kids to realize that you are seeing someone?" Hal asks the first night they end up in bed together. Bruce cracks an eye open, lifts his head, and peers down at Hal, who has made himself comfortable on Bruce's chest. "I mean, they are detectives, and being smart is basically a requirement to be a Bat."
"Hal-" Bruce begins, but Hal cuts him off.
"Like, how long can it take? If they are anything like you, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them has bugged this room and is already listening to us." Hal looks around the room as if he expects one of Bruce's kids to pop out of the dark. Nevermind that they are in Hal's apartment.
"Do not get me wrong, I love anything Spooky," Hal flashes him a grin as if to make sure Bruce gets the joke," but your kids are terrifying."
Bruce drops his head back onto his pillow. "Hal, can we please stop discussing my children."

Summary
Hal is screwed. Because there’s a line, and they’ve been treading the edge of it for a while now, and this, Barry’s arms around him, head pressed to his shoulder, feels like crossing it. Feels like if Hal takes one wrong step, all of his feelings are going to spill out and Barry is going to have to tell him Oh, um, I’m sorry, Hal, and he doesn’t think he can take that.

“What a nerd.”
Barry had been haunted by these words all his life, seeing as they were his soulmate’s mark. It came out during puberty, just like everyone else’s, but by then he was already well on the way to being a ‘nerd’ so to speak. He wasn’t just some guy claiming to be nerd because he was into Dungeons and Dragons or anime, oh no. He was a bona fide science nerd- went to interstate science fairs and competitions even.

Barry Allen was working at the forensics lab of Central City PD when it waltzes the new transfer from Coast City, Detective Hal Jordan, not just into the lab but also into his life. There’s the matter of them being soulmates- but Barry is unconvinced. Science tells him there’s a likely chance that they’re just platonic soulmates, so Hal suggests an experiment of sorts: they go on three dates, and then decide whether or not they’re just platonic, or something more.
