She ignores the itch of her scars as she removes the locks and throws open the door, staring into the crimson eyes of the thing that waits for her inside. There’s a tremble in her legs; a lingering fear from the times they’ve grappled before, but she forces her back to straighten and bares herself to the very worst aspect of her soul.
“Take me,” she says. “Take me and help me save them.”
It’s a mistake, but Yang doesn’t understand the extent of it just yet. She still thinks she’ll be the only one to carry the cost of her desperation, the only one to suffer for her choice. She can’t foresee the fallout of this moment, the gashes it will leave.
