Essentially, Rook, a once happy loner's parents and siblings were all killed by dogs, leaving just her and her friend Copper, a former kittypet to fend for themselves. However, Copper is later killed by the same pack of dogs. Rook continues to run, becoming more bitter by the day. She is found and taken back to StormClan, where she is welcomed, but the feelings are unrequited, as Rook struggles to overcome her grief for her family and friends.
