A sci-fi retelling of the Warrior Cats series. A very simple beat-for-beat retelling but with all the characters as an anthro species of cat living in a futuristic space setting. Plot rewriting will be minimal.

Rusty liked talking to Pine when he could. Pine was nice, Pine didn't hurt. Pine would tell him stories about the cats in the forest. Stories he would never tell other cats. Rusty never understood why but he promised Pine to not retell them, not that other cats talked to him anyway. Pine told him about the clans that ruled the forest. The leaders of the clans with nine lives. Nine! The medicine cats, who worked to heal the hurt and cure the sick. And Starclan, the cats that watch over their descendants from the stars, guiding them.
It amazed Rusty, and he couldn't help but stare out into the forest over his fence imagining himself out there. Imagining himself hunting and fighting for his clan, for his friends, for his family. To feel that warmth again.
