    Summary

A bit of a scene rewrite inspired by the Jace x Baela’s “It does not befit a Prince to pout” interaction in Season 2 Episode 8, reimagining Jace’s anger with the “mongrel” dragonseeds and her comforting (and slight reprimanding) of the young prince. I liked the inclusion of that canon interaction but was left wanting more – hopefully, this drabble provides a good continuation! Overall, a little bit of angst but mostly (much-needed) fluff for their soon-to-be-star-crossed pair. P.S. Shout-out to Shakespeare for the "wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?" lines from R&J, I included those near the end!

"She saw him for who he was.
Not Harwin Strong’s bastard. Not the false heir. Not the base-born boy of Dragonstone…
To Baela, he was simply Jace. Her playmate since childhood and now… her betrothed."

    How dare Criston –
    How dare Alicent –
And even her own father –

She’d been letting the Hightowers choose their battlefields for years now, since she was naught but a heartbroken girl of eight who had lost her mother and brother in a single day. She had been letting them make their moves without challenge, but no longer.
Alicent had worn a banner of War, and Criston had chosen his side.

One should never poke a passive dragon, no matter how docile or pretty it appeared, lest they be faced with fire and blood.

    Summary

When Isabelle Stark returned from the Blip, she thought she was stepping back into a life she recognized. Instead, she finds herself a relic in a world that's already moved on.
Grieving her father, mourning the Avengers, and carrying powers she barely trusts, Isabelle is left with one option: survive the public eye, survive the politics, survive herself.
Suit up. Smile for the cameras. Pretend she isn't breaking.
Because the world is watching—and it still expects a Stark to save it.

And somewhere in the wreckage, Isabelle finds herself drawn to a man who understands what it means to be left behind.
Someone broken like her might just be willing to stay.

"She wasn't looking for a way to fall. He wasn't looking for someone to catch."

A Bucky Barnes/OC (Stark daughter) story set during The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Because listen... I'm a sucker for the "grumpy ex-assassin falls for Tony's Starks daughter" trope, okay?
