Summary
Beth lets out a startled yelp as she feels herself tipping backward, her hand flailing out now for something to stop her fall. It connects, grasping at the other person’s shirt at the same time their arm comes out to wrap around her waist and tilt her forward. Unfortunately, her brain is slow to catch up with the course of her body, overcorrecting as her weight shifts forward, causing her to stumble and knock them both back into the still open door.
“Oh my god.” Beth quietly groans, feeling her face flush hot as she peers up at the other person, eyes widening slightly.
The first thing she notices are his eyelashes. They frame deep brown eyes and seem to go on for miles. He blinks slowly, the thick dark lashes fanning out against his skin for just a moment, drawing her attention down to his cheekbones.
They’re high—sharp, the hallway light reflecting across them casting a contrasting line across his equally sharp jawline. Beth’s fingers unconsciously twitch, still bunched up in the soft fabric of his t-shirt, and she is suddenly very conscious of the firm expanse of skin and muscle she can feel underneath.

Summary
“’Ey, you okay?”
Beth freezes as Rio’s voice washes over her and she slowly turns around just in time to see him take a step toward her and Beth throws her hand up, stopping him with the gesture. He shoves his hands into his pockets and rocks back on his heels, jaw clenched.
“What are you doing here?” She demands, heart racing as she feels that familiar flutter low in her belly.
“I already tol’ you—”
“No, what are you doing here?” She repeats, gesturing between the two of them and that causes him to pause at least, head cocking to the side as he considers her question and how exactly he’s going to answer.
And that’s just—
Great.
AKA : Beth and Rio both have dates for New Year's Eve and it's not with each other.
They are both totally, perfectly, completely fine with this and handle it like the mature adults that they are. -

Summary
Half eaten apple cider doughnuts, pumpkin cupcake wrappers, and red solo cups sticky with remnants of spiked hot chocolate litter the coffee and side tables in the living room. The TV is still playing in the background, some slasher flick Annie had popped in before her and Ruby had finally called it a night, promising to return bright and early the next morning to finish planning.
Which really meant late afternoon for Annie.
Beth shuffles around the living room, trash bag hanging loosely in hand as she gathers up used paper plates and napkins, wrinkling her nose as she tosses them inside. She briefly wonders if a councilwoman's salary can afford her a housekeeper somewhere down the line, before her thoughts are interrupted by the revving of a chainsaw and a truly disgusting noise that sounds like—
Yup, Beth thinks as she glances over at the TV just as some random serial killer hacks up some random camp counselor, bone and flesh being torn apart.
Beth winces as massive amounts of blood start squirting out of various appendages, making a mental note to never let Annie make the pick for movie night again.

Summary
The door to the waiting area swings open, and in walks Rio.
“What the— what the hell are you doing here?” Annie squeaks. In the back of her mind, she has always assumed that the man must run the occasional mundane errand, because who doesn’t, even with his lifestyle? But it’s just so hard to picture him grocery shopping or running to the hardware store. And now here he is at the car mechanic, making her two worlds collide with appalling intensity.
