The man, who introduced himself as “Jiaoqiu” unrolls his knives on your counter, and you amend your previous assumptions.
Only some are new, from the local smith. Others are old, and clearly well used. Every single one holds an immaculate edge. His eyes are still barely open, but as he sets a wok on your stove, you feel his gaze all the same.
