Summary
Vera Bennett has moved on from her time at Wentworth. Sure, the only people she really can count as friends were met at the infamous prison, and even five years later she's still being asked about her experiences there at her new place of employment, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that she has moved on and is raising her daughter Grace in a stable and loving environment.
Unfortunately for Vera, Grace is an observant child who develops a strong curiosity about her family's history with Wentworth Correctional Centre.

She looks at the diminutive, timid and unsuspecting woman in front of her and for a brief moment sees a hint of potential. It’s just for a moment that somewhere, hidden behind those wide anxious eyes, there is a glimmer of something more . If she could perhaps peel away the layers she would uncover something else within the mousey woman being presented to her.
Then the moment passes and she loses sight of it – that potential more gone, as if it never was there to begin with. Instead all she can now see is awe reflected in those large, painfully earnest, blue eyes, as they glance up nervously from a deceptively made drink.
Joan finds herself overwhelmed with the urge to tear her deputy apart and uncover what’s inside her.
