Summary
Megumi eyes the papers, heartbeat quickening. He picks up the first one. It’s heavy, thick. Light doesn’t pass through, and the bold title at the top seems to leer at him.
'Adoption Order', it reads.
“This looks real,” Megumi says.
Gojo sips on his lemonade. His blindfold is around his neck, and the sunlight snags against the blue of his eyes. He’s beaming, proud.
“It is.”
Something in Megumi's chest explodes. Shatters. The shrapnel guts him, and his hands work against the paper. He tells himself not to rip it, but a fine tear spreads under his fingers.
“I said to bring fake ones.”
"Megumi-"
"I don't want this. I told you I don't want this! What the hell's wrong with you?"

When Megumi calls Gojo asking for fake adoption papers, the last thing he expects is for him to bring real ones.
And the last thing Gojo expects is for Megumi to refuse.
AKA: Megumi refuses to be adopted by Gojo, and the fallout forces them to figure out what they mean to each other.

Summary
“You can be quite cruel,” Nanami concluded.
“What? Oh, please. Me? I’m cruel? Am I supposed to encourage her? I’m not saying it to hurt her feelings; it’s just the truth! We both know that she’s not going to get promoted. Isn’t it worse to give her false hope?”
Nanami gave him a severe look. He was shorter than Gojo, yet he still managed to stare him down. There was a strange authority in the somber dip of his chin.
“I suppose you wouldn’t understand.”
“Understand what?”

There are a lot of words one could use to describe Gojo Satoru.
Loving is not one of them. He knows this. Superficially. It's a second-hand understanding at best, because how can someone explain to the sun about why it should love the moon?
But when an incident with a Cursed Object temporarily turns Gojo into a three year old, it becomes obvious to everyone around him that he isn't as self-centered as he seems.
AKA: A Cursed Object turns Gojo into a toddler with serious attachment issues, and for the first time in nearly twenty years, Gojo Satoru is truly unmasked.

"Shadow doesn't look like anyone's reflection anymore. He no longer wore his hat, and his skin had lost its greyish pallor. He was tanned now, chasing after fairies, talking about antimicrobial compounds and livestock and future plans that Four would never envision for himself.
At one point, they had been twins, the same soul with a different shape. But they are no longer identical, or even mirror images. Four wonders what that makes them now."
Four never expects to see Shadow again, so he is understandably surprised when they bump into each other. Together, they heal old wounds, but the rest of the chain doesn't know what to make of Four's new companion.

Four glances at the others, but no eyes are on him. His fist tightens.
That was enough.
"Do you have some sort of issue?"
The air grows cold. Legend stops, then turns. His eyebrows are arched.
"You talkin' to me?"

Four is blunt. Legend is sarcastic. Surprisingly, they get along. It's nearly impossible to get under their skin; Legend doesn't care, and Four understands. But if there's one thing the latter can't stand, it's being dismissed.
Things get complicated when Legend develops a habit of doing just that.

“Do you need my jacket?” Takumi asked.
Bunta didn’t respond. He studied the baby-turned-toddler-turned-child in his shadow: the red spots on his cheeks, the veins in his palms, the dry skin around his mouth. The sunset painted a golden slash across Takumi’s face, turning his eyes into a thousand shades of yellow and brown. Feathery lashes curling up and out. Fraying, second hand clothes turned his shadow into an ill-fitting splatter, and his third-hand shoes peeled at the edges.
And there was Bunta. A twenty-eight year old man, freshly shaven and freshly widowed, with his four year old son offering to keep him warm.
One last race, he promised himself. One last race, and we move on.

Bunta is ready to leave the racing world behind. He has a son to feed, a mortgage to pay, and a wife to bury.
But things get a little complicated when a four year old Takumi finds a friend in his archrival's son.
AKA: Baby Takumi meets Baby Kai and they hit it off immediately! Fluff and naps ensue.

Summary
Ryosuke has spent most of December in Tokyo for medical school rotations, and the misery of being alone in the big city has started to wear on him. Christmas's rapid approach makes things even worse; Keisuke offers to spend Christmas Eve with him, but it doesn't alleviate the loneliness as much as he hopes.
Cue Project D and a surprise sleepover at Ryosuke's for Christmas Eve! If they can handle not getting distracted by the open-air Christmas market, that is!

Legend had always been far more curious, intelligent, and mature than any of his reincarnations give him credit for. But when he finds that his Magic Mirror and Time's Lens of Truth fuse into an artifact that reveals each hero's worst nightmares and deepest traumas, one of Legend's defining characteristics overpowers the others.
AKA: Where Legend can't keep his nose out of everyone else's nightmares and ends up creating a real-world nightmare for himself.

Ryosuke falls asleep during practice, and the members of Project D, unwilling to wake him up, decide to end practice early. But none of them thought their plan completely through--not far enough to predict themselves sipping on sake and playing mahjong in Fumihiro and Ryosuke's college apartment, at least.

Wild is at the end of his rope. It seems like the hero business grows grimmer and grimmer by the day, and he begins to wonder if there's really a point to all of it. Do any of his actions even make a difference? What's the point of rebuilding a village if it's going to burn down tomorrow?
Part of him wants to run away, but the other part of him only wants a little bit of encouragement. And said encouragement comes from an unlikely, curly-haired source.

Summary
Time and Wind are the first heroes to meet each other, and, to their quiet surprise, they get along extremely well. It's when they run into a third hero that things start to get tense; The Hero of the Wild is airy, detached, and maybe even a little too eager, and even though Wind and Time feel bad about their suspicions, they can't help treating him differently.
However, Time and Wind quickly realize that Wild's heart is just as golden as everyone claims it is.

Dark Link kidnaps Grandpa Smith in order to get a leg up on the Links -- especially a certain, irritatingly intelligent blacksmith. Everything goes as planned, and not only does Dink gain leverage over the group, he now has a source of nearly inexhaustible information on Four.
However, Dink quickly learns that his hostage is...sickeningly kind.

Link said something that sounded like a cross between 'good evening' and 'hello,' but his eyes didn't move. He only saw Zelda out of the corner of his eye, a plume of pink, raising herself off the throne and skipping to his side. The others laughed at something she said. Link didn't. He was too busy staring.
He had definitely never seen these guys before.
So why did they feel so familiar?

After working three back-to-back shifts and spending the afternoon repairing the brakes on his train, Link receives an urgent summons to the palace. He expects it to be something simple and, hopefully, quick.
What he doesn't expect is to be met by nine extremely familiar looking men looking for a place to stay.

And not lamenting over lost loves - rather, learning how to work together despite their differences (e.g. Legend's use of magic and Twilight's avoidance/lack of)
