    In each timeline split, one goes well and one goes badly. Statistically speaking, there has to be a timeline where everything goes wrong and everything is lost. But those timelines need to be pruned, sheared off the stronger branches where life still thrives. Cloud Strife is the only reason his current timeline exists. After giving Sephiroth the Black Materia to destroy the world, he's left to wander the barren landscape alone for all eternity. Unable to die because of his own link to Sephiroth, he's keeping this fading timeline open simply by existing. But Gaia needs this timeline gone, so there's only one option: Remove Cloud from it entirely, and hand him over to another.

    But this new world is very different from the one he originally comes from. On Gaia's World of the Tree, the most important bond people have is with the planet, while in Odin's World of the Wolf, that honor belongs to the bonds between people. Lifemates and packs, to be precise, so this is going to be interesting.

    Chapter 1's beginning spints off my fic On Bound and Broken Wings. That's the only OBABW reference though, the rest is standalone.

    For years, Genesis, Angeal, Zack and Sephiroth have been waiting to meet the final member of their pack. The one who would give Genesis a very specific coffee he ordered, tell Angeal he wasn't the first person to throw stuff at him, apologise to Sephiroth for having something underneath his shoe and simply call Zack by his name.

    New intern at the Shinra company Cloud Strife has barely slept in the past few days and is only still awake through a combination of coffee and pure spite as he hurries to finish his tasks before he gets fired. Therefore, he actually doesn't realise that he's meeting his pack one fateful day as he is way too busy.

    Thankfully, one black-haired, human puppy intervenes at exactly the right time and makes sure his pack is finally complete

    Summary

    The war with Wutai has finally come to an end and Shinra is in the throes of its victory celebrations. However, the strange disappearance of multiple trooper units near Nibelheim sends the company's brass into a panic, leading them to send Angeal and his pack on a mission to discover the cause. The group is deployed to the Western Continent to search for the missing troops and determine if Wutai is involved, but they quickly find that the situation is far more complicated than any of them could've imagined.

    What should have been a simple mission turns dangerous as Shinra's finest realize they're out of their element and at the mercy of a power they don't understand.
