It strikes him like one of those thunderstorms that would sometimes appear in late winter. He found Jean attractive. He liked how Jean stared at him, how he leered at him. This was bad. Summary
What if the Absolute Crisis had been foretold and the gods had already had it all figured out and fixed with a neat little bow with six heroes hand-picked for the job?
The gods certainly have no need for a vampire spawn in their plans, all but one that is.
For 200 years, Astarion had thought all of his prayers unanswered, but one goddess was meddling in the other god's plans, risking unraveling them at the seams, for the sake of the spawn that had pulled on her heartstrings.
This is a reimagining of the events in the games, with my own creative twists and an emphasis on Astarion's fight for freedom and his journey of healing.

Summary
Half a year after the Netherbrain is defeated, Gale has a problem that only Astarion can help with. The wizard has miraculously met just the right woman for him, but after decades of purely non-corporeal delights he's rubbish in bed, and desperately needs Astarion's expertise to save his new relationship.
From where Astarion stands, the plan has no downsides: there's no way giving sex lessons to his kind, generous, inventive, and very attractive friend can lead to the vampire catching feelings. -

In a momentary lapse in Cazador's compulsion over him, Astarion flees Baldur's Gate. The moment he does, Cazador's second line of defense takes over, and he transforms into a small bat with no real way to defend himself against the sunlight or the wildlife around him. Then he meets a wandering wizard in need of a traveling companion.
