He looks right at Steve, expression worried and intense. It’s hard to see super clearly in the dark, but something’s wrong.
“Hey, man, are you feeling okay?”
Will frowns. “Yeah, why?”
Before Steve can respond, the floodlight above the building’s back door opens, washing them in bright, white light. The door slams open, and El thunders down the steps, Hopper close behind.

Summary
Will gathers up all his courage into his sore arms, cradling bravery against his chest, holding it over his broken-and-then-healed ribcage. “Ever since I got back from the Upside Down, I’ve been in pain.”
“What do you mean?” Mike asks.
“It’s like I came back wrong. My body hurts pretty much all the time. It wasn’t that bad when it started, but it just kept getting worse and worse and now I’m just—” Will swallows the lump in his throat. “I’m crippled, basically. I’m sorry.”
Mike’s mouth opens and closes a couple times. “Hold on, did you say since the Upside Down? Three years ago?”
Will nods.
“And when you say ‘all the time’, you mean all the time?”
“The severity changes a lot, but yes.”
Mike looks… very concerned. “Even right now?”
It’s not funny, but he laughs. “Especially right now.”

Tears filled Wills hazel-green eyes, streaking his dirty cheeks, shuddered breaths racking his body. Mike watched in horror as he realized what Will meant. Every part of me, inside and out.
