Jack holds his gaze but allows himself a restricted upwards turn of his mouth. In sympathy, mainly. Occasionally, he might like to torture Robby just a little but he genuinely has no intention of playing this moment for laughs.

Jack checks up on Dennis during a heat and their relationship flourishes while Robby is gone
When Robby returns, perhaps a little earlier from his Sabbatical than planned, he is able to join Dennis's second heat while he's house sitting.
