Luther laughs once, but there’s nothing amused in it. “For them? Not even close.”
She thinks of lights. Crowds. Caesar Flickerman’s smile stretching waxy and bright beneath stage lights while he asks questions he doesn’t want answers to. She thinks of the interview before the arena, of the way the audience’s faces had fallen when she yelled at them, and some vicious part of her is glad they had.
This will be different. It’ll be worse, because now there’s a victor for them to dress up and parade around and make speak pretty about all the things they ruined.

The smiles on the crowd's faces have completely faded.
