"You know that I love you, don't you?" Draco trembled, gripping her face in a tight grip as if his life relied on it. His long fingers shook through the gloves of his Death Eater uniform, his gaze far away and full of something she didn't understand.
"Of course I do. And I love you too." Hermione said, holding his wrists. Her thumbs massaged his pulse points to calm him down from whatever was going on in that head of his.
"Then I make you a promise, Granger."
"What's that?"
He leaned forward, holding her close, as he pressed his lips to her forehead in a gesture of goodbye.
His lips were cold and trembling as he whispered hoarsely, his warm breath caressing her skin.
"I won't forget you. I promise. Thank you for the memories, but I'm not here to save you." His tone dropped low, and as cold as ice, she felt it cut deep into her chest cavity. "This is goodbye, Granger."
"No, Draco, don't you dare! Don't do this to us; I love—"
"Obliviate."

Summary

Story is Finished but UNEDITED
Hermione Granger has returned to England after also vanishing post-battle of Hogwarts; but she's got a shadow in the form of a six-year old attached to her hip.
Leo Granger was raised in America as the war stagnated in England with the disappearance of Harry Potter. Once the war was won, Hermione decided it was time to bring her son to London, and the face ghost of her past... the married ghost of her past.
Will time heal all wounds? Do people have the capacity to love while grieving? Probably not in the way we typically perceive love and happy endings.
