"Do you ever wonder-"
"Oh god, yes," Ilya blurts out before he can even register the words leaving his lips. "Literally all the time."
-
AU where Ilya does cut things off before the cottage and Shane lets him.
He watches Shane’s life and career from a safe distance, secretly looking forward to any games when they’d share the ice.
Years on, Shane publicly comes out and transfers to the Ottawa Centaurs out of necessity.
A story of repair. Eventually.

Summary
The one where instead of documenting their story through cryptic instagram posts, Ilya documents it on his skin. From day one. While telling himself it's not a big deal, or even about Shane.
Shane takes more time than he should to put two and two together.

Summary
Yuna Hollander is a pragmatist above all else. She thrives with logistics and spreadsheets, weighing probabilities and outcomes and risks and rewards. She can handle the people-coralling of it all, if she treats the schmoozing and handshaking as moving chesspieces instead of navigating a social minefield.
She knows that Shane is the same way, except that his tolerance for people-coralling is even less than her own.
What Yuna does not know, and what has bugged her for the past nine months, is what the fuck happened on Boxing Day to blow up Shane and Ilya’s relationship past the point of repair.
It doesn’t really matter, now. Right now, she is simply glad that she has quietly remained an emergency contact for Ilya Rozanov for the logistics of what they are facing at this very moment, because it means that she knows the address of his new place, and so she can race to it after her phone had damn near overheated and exploded during her morning Pilates class with the notification overload.
Someone has hacked Ilya's iCloud account. Ten years of text messages have been published for the whole world to see.

Summary
Ilya does not have time for this. It’s almost incredible, and frankly humiliating, how fast his anger has been extinguished by burning worry. Shane’s right, he should be furious. But that’s not Ilya’s priority, now. ‘’Hollander, are you listening, yes?’’, Ilya insists. He confusedly stares at his reflection on the window. When did he even got up from the couch? ‘’Where are you?’’, he repeats, stressing on every word with a careful pause.
Shane seems intentioned to ignore Ilya’s bleeding questions like’s a sacred mission. Just to make his heart dry out from paranoia, probably. The silence is broken by a sniff, followed by a gulp. Shane sounds now far from the phone:
‘’Rose. Rose, he’s mad’’, he moans in a strangled whisper.
Ilya’s body freezes.
Or, Shane and Rose break up, and they’re up to celebrations. Rose decides it’s time for Shane to distract himself for a night. It absolutely doesn’t go as planned.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov has watched the gay soccer television show four times.
Every time he gets to the end of episode six, he loops right back around to the first episode again. Would you like to start from the beginning? His TV mocks him with the request. Every time he sees it, he tells himself he won't watch again. But he does.
Again, again, again, again.
It is not helping.
Shane and Ilya end their relationship during the 2017 All-Star Game. Years pass with no contact off the ice.
When a new TV show premieres, following two queer professional soccer players in a years-long secret relationship, the show's success creates a ripple effect through the sports world, leaving both Shane and Ilya wondering about what might have been.
Or: Is this f*cking play about us?
