"Were you acting back then too?" Sokka asked, resting against the platform. One of Zuko's guards shot him a look of anger and disbelief, but Zuko shook his head discreetly. "What even happened between you two?" Sokka continued.
The flash of her robes caught his eye and Zuko turned back to look at her. She was smiling sweetly at another noble who Zuko had marked as difficult, with Aang by her side nodding along to the man's words. She felt his eyes on her and looked back to him, her gaze curious. Zuko's heart stumbled across a beat, and he fought the urge to rush to her. To take her in his arms and away from here. Zuko swallowed and turned back to look at Sokka.
"I don't know. After the war, things changed. I thought they did for all of us." Zuko murmured.
"Yeah, they did. But we got to choose that change, Zuko."

Hitoshi never knew what caused it.
It seemed to come on at random times. Sometimes it happened when he’d exerted himself too much. That was the most understandable, logical cause. But other times, there seemed to be no cause at all, as if his body sometimes just decided to give up out of the blue and drag Hitoshi down, down, down until all he could do was lay in bed and sleep the day away while hoping things would be better tomorrow.
In the midst of a chronic pain episode, Hitoshi spends the day at home resting, at Aizawa and Yamada’s insistence. He can’t help but to feel guilty, though, and because of that when Aizawa asks him if he wants them to stay home from hero work tonight, Hitoshi answers no. He regrets it when they don’t come home on time and his pain keeps him from investigating like he wants to.
