Summary

A story that explores the life of one Stolas Goetia, starting from his wedding night with a wife who does not love him and who he does not want touching him, through the birth and growth of the daughter who slowly becomes the single light in his life, to a certain night at a certain ball when things take a sudden turn.
Fate often wears unexpected clothes, and for Stolas, his salvation seems to come in the form of an imp who he long ago called a friend.
But is Blitzo a salvation, or just another scar in a long line of old hurts and pains?
A darker take on a relationship that seems to be filled with consent that is dubious at best and abusive at worst, on the character of a cheater and why he cheats, and on a man who wished he could burn out like a star.

The City of Chains was once the heart of the ancient slave trade until a rebellion cast off the chains of the magisters. These days it is chained by the templars and the site of a massive black market of lyrium. And for the slaves of Magister Danarius, it is their new home. Fenris dislikes his master taking them straight into the stronghold of southern templars, but as a slave and bodyguard, he can only follow and keep his master alive. He’s more than capable: there is no perrepatae like Fenris in the Free Marches—or even in Tevinter.
But the other abuses that his master puts him through … those are much harder to bear.

Fenris is a free man, again, recovering and relearning how to be a person in Skyhold while he waits for the operation to remove the red lyrium from his markings. He discovers that among all the things Danarius stole from him is his ability to find sexual gratification, even from himself. Plagued with guilt and shame regarding his broken sexuality and unusual fantasies, Fenris attempts to drown out his thoughts and instead is prompted with a new option he didn't know existed.
