This is an affirming Dramione. A fic about gossip, though none is written, a story that has no basis for the shame-filled word that is spat at Hermione by her once best friend and, for a very short time, paramour. It's a reckoning, for and by every female who has been sentenced by a jury of her peers without any true evidence presented at trial. Sans trial, even. I love Harry and Ginny in this fic, although it took way too long for them to stand by their bestie. They are redeemed by their honesty. And let's be real - all of these characters are teenagers, with all the resultant ugliness of their as-yet-to-be-determined adult personas. This in no way gives them a pass for their behavior, Hermione's response to Blaise Zabini's filth was perfectly on point. Shout out to Pansy Parkinson, who acted like an impressed almost-friend. Draco is most definitely the male hero in this fic, allowing himself to be vulnerable once he believed he had a chance. That takes guts. However, Ms. Hermione Granger is her own heroine, and rightly so. Hermione has had to be the heroine for the so-called "Golden Trio" since first year at Hogwarts. I will download, save, reread AND use this exemplary fic as an example for my grandchildren (both female and male) of the inherent power of a word as well as getting your facts straight. 💔🩷❤️❤️
