Armin feels his face twist into a snarl briefly, but when he looks at Eren, his eyes catch on his and Mikasa’s tangled hands. Hers are squirming under his grip, and then pull against her stomach in a gesture that makes Armin dizzy for a moment. He sees again that line of red, but—it’s not blood.
When he sees what it actually is, he almost wishes it was.
“‘M fine,” Mikasa says. Her breath is coming too fast, too shallow. “Just—cold…”Eren’s eyes shine with wonder, locked on their joint hands and what’s below them; the red spilling out from the gaps in her buttons.
That is not right, Armin thinks, gut churning. That shouldn’t be happening.
But at the same time, isn’t that just the same old story?***

He’s not particularly partial to any seasons—winters don’t come too harsh for his disposition, and he himself is somewhat heat-resistant during the summers, though he would take colder showers throughout, mostly for others’ sake. Even he isn’t immune to the joys that spring brings, though the more rainy days towards the end of it often hampers his pursuits when he needs to use his vision. Autumn is a comfortable lull of period, usually, except for the harvest season of the vineyard during the beginning when he would often wish to divide himself in three, at the very least, to attend to every business that would pile relentlessly. But, if he has to pick one—perhaps late autumn is amongst his favorite.
If only because itʼs when Jean often sleeps in.

Summary
In a society where marriage is a business and a woman is a means of property, Jean wishes to do as she wishes and become a knight maiden for the kingdom of Mondstadt. Those very dreams are crushed when she is betrothed to the crown prince, Diluc Ragnvindr. However, the very same marriage she thought would cage her is more convoluted than she initially thought and had opened a door of possibilities.

It’s here Diluc finds himself tonight, at the tip of Jean’s sword, pointed at his throat, and it’s here that he breathes a shaky sigh of release as her hand pushes the blade to his jugular, the steel a relief against his too-hot skin.
She looks down at him, her eyes glimmering like stardust in the dark, and she smiles softly, no hint of malice even as her gloved grip on the sword tightens. The sound of leather on leather sends a chill up his spine.
He wants to stay on his knees for hours until they’re bruised and until his legs are numb, just praising this woman before him, serving her. He would give her the chain attached to his collar and ask her to pull until he can’t breathe, until it’s too tight to speak. He would slander the name of each and every archon above if it meant he could follow her to the ends of the earth.

Jean and Diluc have been dating for several weeks now. Jean still finds her romance novels appealing and a good way to wind down after a shift at work (and after all her other duties have been finished, of course!), but now she's starting to feel the urge to not just be the heroine of those tales...but the suitor.
Jean begins wooing Diluc. Diluc is not expecting to be wooed. Jean learns a lot about a new way to kindly assert herself and take care of her loved ones, and Diluc learns that sometimes it's okay to just lay back and receive affection.

Summary
Jean does not let anything slip through the cracks. She has to be perfect. She can not make mistakes. Mondstadt relies on her, and she is determined not to disappoint her city. But when a child is injured and the mysterious Darknight Hero is blamed and a manhunt begins, Jean is forced to choose between her role as a Knight and her feelings for the man who broke her heart.
Diluc is not the same boy he was all those years ago. He hardly remembers the innocent boy who loved with his whole heart; he is dead, and Diluc tells himself he couldn't care less. He is more than content to continue serving his city from the shadows, his memories reflected in dirty wine glasses he is careful not to break. Until a horrible crime drags Diluc into a play he cannot escape, and brings him face to face with the woman he knows is better off forgetting him.
Dark plots loom at the edges of Mondstadt as two knights, one in the law and one outside it, are forced to confront a past both had tried to ignore. Masks are donned and removed as carefully suppressed emotions are set blazing to light. Years feels like eternity and yet no time at all. Old horrors and new threats provide kindling as sparks ignite.

Jean Gunnhildr is a sore loser. This is a fact Diluc learned as early as eleven, when he was beginning to grasp the claymore really, really well and he found out he could further throw off opponents by driving movements with his left hand. She, too, was already incredibly adept in the arts of swordfighting for her ten years of age, but he was quite the ambitious child himself. She would smile tightly, prim and proper like the lady she was raised to be, but she would softly say to him—“Would you be interested in a rematch next week, Diluc?”
Diluc bemusedly takes the glass from her hand as Jean glares at him. Look how far their friendship has gone. (It has gone quite far.)

Indeed it's something unwelcome, but perhaps all these times he only needed something to slightly lower his inhibitions to let her know that every single time they fall into each other he itches so badly to have a name between them. That with every sigh and completions they’ve met together he had to hold his tongue from saying reckless things.
