She cried, often, either quiet sniffles to herself or wailing sobs as she clung to him, but not a single word passed her lips. She followed Silco, a shadow, a wraith, a ghost. Even when he couldn’t see her, he knew she was watching him. She had a knack, it seemed, for staying out of sight.
Sevika clearly didn’t like it, Silco’s softness for the girl, something she had no qualms with sharing.
“She’s a risk,” Sevika said, on multiple occasions. “The sooner you realise that and deal with her, the better.”
“You’re wrong,” Silco told her, each time. “She will be magnificent.”
