Summary
Monsters and ghouls of every age,
Wouldn't you like to see something strange?Far beyond the graveyard and its renowned Spiral Hill, the Woods prevail. There are no animals to be found there, not one sign of life but for the shifting of the mist and gentle caress of the wind.
Neil has lived in Halloween Town for as long as he can remember, though memory is a fickle thing.
Since his mother, Mary Finkelstein, died two years ago, he hasn't been as good at following her orders as he used to be.
He's made friends. He's not sure how it happened, really - it feels like he just woke up one day with his life suddenly entangled with a whole group of people he hadn't noticed getting slowly closer. He's also taken the habit of looking at the Woods.
There's something calling to him. He can hear them in the wind, the whispers in a hundred incoherent tongues. They say crossing the threshold is always the most difficult part.

Summary
Painting is everything for Neil. It’s what’s kept him going while he was on the run, and it’s what pays for his flat and his food nowadays. So when the man who made this dream a reality asks him to paint a mural for his shopfront, Neil is more than happy to say yes - and that’s before he realised that Wymack actually intended to pay him.
Neil gets more than he bargained for, however, when a normal day of work ends up accidentally involving one angry, blond Minyard with a taste for expensive shirts.

Summary
Deidre calls him at the end of the week. She says that Theo had been asking to see Mr Poop all week. That it had taken them a while to work it out but she believed he may be the Mr Poop in question. Would he come visit?
Of course he would. He would also, of course, have a mini panic attack about it over the phone with Eddie while he drove to the house of the foster family that had Theo. And Eddie, of course, had calmed him down. Had said to just be Buck, as if it wasn’t just being Buck that had gotten all of them into this in the first place. Had said that Theo needed a friendly face and Buck’s face was the friendliest.
Buck ends up adopting Theo, gets an ADHD diagnosis, and a new perspective on the past and future.

Summary
Something changed for him in New Mexico. On his knees in the dirt, cradling Buck's head, Buck's dirty hair against his palm and his pulse thudding against Eddie's fingers, which he couldn't pull away even though Buck was awake, smiling dazedly under the blood and the bruises. Something changed then. Cracked open. He could patch it up, probably. He's good at that. He's done it before, plenty of times.
Under his hands, Buck breathes, warm and alive.

Summary
“I gotta go to work now, baby,” Buck says, craning his neck down like an emperor penguin looking at his chick. “Be good for Eddie, okay?”
“Okay,” Theo garbles around his toothbrush. He wiggles out between Buck’s legs and scampers over to Eddie, fingers reaching up to claw at his jeans pocket. “Can we go to the park?”
He blinks up at Eddie with those wide, pleading baby blue eyes. God, he remembers the first time Theo whipped those out on him; remembers thinking I’m screwed. There’s two of them now.
Picking him up under his armpits, Eddie swings Theo easily up and onto his hip. He extracts the toothbrush from Theo’s mouth and bops him lightly on his nose with the flat end of it.

Summary
The car Eddie bought smells like stale cigarettes and mildew, and the seat creaks ominously when Buck heaves himself gingerly into it. He watches Eddie limp around to the driver's side and ease himself behind the wheel with the kind of studied caution that suggests he's in a lot more pain than he's letting on. The engine coughs as it turns over, but it starts. Buck watches through the rearview mirror as Los Nietos fades into the distance with a sense of relief that feels so enormous he could choke on it.
Or: Buck, and Eddie, and a ten hour drive home.
