He looked at the clock. 9:02 AM.
“Some kind of bug?” Alec asked as he approached.
“Has to be,” she answered. “All of a sudden there were just thousands of reports coming in from the sensors. Maybe there’s a warlock out there casting some kind of spell?” she mused to herself. “I’ve reset the sensors but they still show the same thing.”
Alec looked up at the screen again and had a sense of foreboding. It had to be a bug or some kind of malfunction, right? There was no way thousands of demons would just suddenly pop up in New York.

"Oh, I hate fascists and racists!" Peter said, brightening with relief, so that was why the young man was ready to fight him. Very understandable, commendable, even! "They're practically all I fight back in my world, along with the mob and landlords."
"Ha!" Hobie barked a laugh. "Landlord, fascist? What's the difference, right?"

This fic, and the sequel (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly), are two of my favourite Spideypool fics ever. Great Deadpool characterization, particularly, and I like how Spider-Man doesn't always say or do exactly the right thing - because you know, he's human and a young person, so of course he's sometimes going to fuck up. He generally manages to fix it in these two, but I still find it more realistic and satisfying than other fics where Peter is 100% perfect and accepting all of the time.
