Summary
He’d been a bad friend recently… well… for about five years at this point. He was only caring about El and himself. He didn’t notice that Dustin was slipping behind on grades, he didn’t notice that Lucas was struggling with Max. He discovered that he was the worst friend to Will, who had been going through stuff. All this built up to him and El telling Lucas what El saw the day she went into Max’s mind, which lead Lucas to punching him in the nose and successfully breaking it.
Now El, Will, and Jonathan went back to California to finish picking up the last of their things. Mike set off to be a better friend. He started with his mom, who couldn’t make much more than a few hours of housework before she got exhausted with the grief that her marriage was collapsing. So Mike took on chores around the house. He even offered to walk Holly to the park when she asked. He would push her on the swing, and stare at her and think: “God, how am I going to explain this to her?”
OR: Mike learns how to be a better friend this summer, and learns some new things about himself along the way. I know it's long, but I put a lot of love into it. <3
