La tormenta rugía sobre el puente de Yokohama. La lluvia golpeaba con furia. Dos figuras luchaban espalda contra espalda.
Akutagawa vio el ataque mortal contra el tigre. Supo que si lo salvaba, él moriría. Y aun así, lo hizo.
Empujó a Atsushi fuera de la trayectoria. Sintió el impacto brutal que lo lanzó al vacío. Cayó.
Unas garras arañaron su espalda. Un grito —"¡AKUTAGAWA!"— desgarró la noche.

Summary
The storm roared over the Yokohama bridge. Rain pounded furiously. Two figures fought back to back.
Akutagawa saw the killing blow aimed at the tiger. He knew that if he saved him, he would die. And still, he did it.
He pushed Atsushi out of the path. He felt the brutal impact that hurled him into the void. He fell.
Claws raked across his back. A scream —"AKUTAGAWA!"— tore through the night.
"Why are you screaming for me?" he thought as the water swallowed him. "You're supposed to hate me."
The darkness consumed him.
He woke on a beach. Alive. Yokohama was still there.
He lifted his gaze toward the horizon. And then he saw it.
The bridge.
The very bridge he had fallen from. The very one that had collapsed over him, beam after beam, as the water dragged him away. It was still there. Intact. Gleaming under the sun.
As if nothing had happened.
As if he had never fallen.

Grace flicked a couple of switches and pressed a few buttons, and the Hail Mary ran a quick scan of the moon. And pinged that there was, somehow, LIFE somewhere within the liquid. "Yeah. We'll take a closer look."
