Robert “Bob” Reynolds lived by this during his drug addiction. Of course, he was living in hell anyway. Better dead than in hell, he’d told himself when he signed up for that drug trial in Malaysia. He was in hell. He wanted to find a way out of it, and he figured if that supposed miracle drug didn’t take his hell away, then it would probably kill him. And if, after all was done, and he was simply gone, then wasn’t the world better for it? He was a miserable addict, vengeful when high, voided when sober. He didn’t contribute to anything in society more than ambience on dark street corners.
And then he woke up.

Summary
The only thing stopping Nick from scoring another try was a lone defender and Charlie knew that Nick would be able to dodge him easily. But adrenaline and excitement quickly turned to panic and dread when Nick failed to dodge - there must’ve been a rut in the pitch, causing him to lose his footing - and collided directly into the defender, sending him hard onto the ground. Hardly a second went by before body after body piled on top of Nick before the whistle could be blown.
Time seemed to slow down as Charlie skidded to a stop, frozen. The sickening thud of Nick slamming into the ground playing on a loop in his head until he heard Nick cry out. A knot of fear twisted in his stomach as he caught sight of Nick’s red mop of hair at the bottom of the pile, his boyfriend trying to wiggle his way out from under the mass of bodies.
It was silent enough that Charlie could’ve heard a pin drop into the grass. When the rest of the team and the crowd realized that their captain was at the bottom of the scrum, there was a growing roar of protest before the pushing and shoving started.

Nick gets hurt during a rugby match and Charlie's there for him at every stage of his recovery.

It's a day like any other on Pandora: the Vault Hunters go about their business and participate in the Crimson Raiders' missions. After Jack's death they want to drive every single Hyperion soldier off Pandora; with bullets and grenades.
