Summary
Killua must be an incredibly strong man, Gon thought. Not just for the obvious, but for the fact that despite everything, his hands could still be gentle.
Gon is a Blacklist Hunter, hired by an unidentified client to locate and capture a sadistic, ruthless assassin who by all accounts doesn't - or shouldn't - exist. He's fought for his strength for this, to save people. He just wants to make sure nobody else gets hurt.
Killua is a product, the decades-long outcome of his family’s loving labour to bend, break, and torture him into a tool of purpose. He is a dog to be set loose, a judgement to be brought down. He is not supposed to want anything at all.
And then one day, he does.
(An alternate timeline where Gon and Killua never met, and Killua never escaped his family. Somehow, despite it all, they still manage to find each other.)

Killua knows something is wrong with him, with the way he loves Gon, but he can't bring himself to care. Protecting Gon comes first, above all.
(A very small fic about a very awful relationship in which Gon has grown into a manipulator and Killua has never been able to let him go.)

Summary
Killua cared for Gon. He cared for Mito and Abe too, though in a different way. He craved their warmth, Abe's gentle droning as she talked them through whatever knitting technique she was demonstrating, the slight smile Mito gave as she set a plate down in front of him. Things were calm. He could breathe here. He really, really did care for them.
Killua couldn't bear the thought of spending another minute on Whale Island.
(Killua has never deserved a kind touch in his life. Mito tells him otherwise.)

Summary

But the vampire has secrets, and his origins will only bring trouble to the small company. The military, under Kureto Hiiragi’s control, begins to quite ominously make their presence known.(Or: Mikaela goes through the blender and struggles to find the family his instincts crave, and a certain human starts looking like the unlikely answer.)
