Two weeks and three days before Damian is brutally murdered, he sits on the edge of a rooftop in Crime Alley with his brothers, sharing a bottle of champagne between the four of them. Richard has just told them that Barbara is expecting, that Richard is going to be a dad, so they’re celebrating. He feels content here, on the edge of a rooftop in the darkest part of Gotham, with his brothers' bickering voices around him. Damian is sixteen, nearly seventeen, and he thinks he has his whole life ahead of him.

“Red Robin,” someone says. Maybe Kon. They sound afraid. Desperate. Tim doesn’t care. “Red Robin focus. Robin –“
“Isn’t dead,” Tim shouts then and everyone goes silent. Tim closes his eyes shut tight. He won’t look at anyone. He can’t. “H-he isn’t dead.”
“Of course not,” Cass says but her voice is different; it’s smaller. Less sure. And Tim has a horrible feeling that she doesn’t believe him.

Or: Tim and Damian (and the Titans) are caught as per usual and for almost two days Tim thinks that Damian is dead. It's the longest two days of his life.

Summary
“Bruce doesn’t always mean it when he yells, Damian,” Timothy sighs. “He just isn’t good at expressing himself. He is worried about you too, you know. And he is glad we are both safe.”
Damian closes his eyes and refuses to cry in front of his rival. Timothy doesn’t comment on it. Instead he places a gentle hand on Damian’s head for a second before he gets up and quietly exists the room again to give Damian his privacy.

Tim hears him before he sees them:
Damian screams like he’s being tortured. Dick shushes him gently and tries to hold him closer against his chest comfortingly. It only makes Damian trash harder and scream louder. Dick squeezes his eyes shut tight and grits his teeth.
He stares at the sight in front of him and for a moment he is completely frozen in shock. He shouldn’t be so surprised; O had told him Damian had been dozed with enough fear toxin to take down several grown men. But still.

There's a healing bullet wound on Peter's right thigh, one that makes him put more focus than he'd like into not limping despite the ache that comes with every step. One of the sweatshirts he snagged from Mr. Stark back when he was fifteen is pulled over his shoulders, hair visibly disheveled where it peeks out from the hood covering his head, hands shoved deep into his pockets as he waits in line. Realistically, his budget is too tight to fit a five dollar coffee from a corner café in Manhattan, but after the week he's had, he thinks he might not survive without getting pumped full of caffeine, so he ignores the part of him that says to tuck his wallet away and leave, instead stepping forward, fighting a wince when his injured leg is shifted and forced to hold his weight, and looking up when it's his turn to order.
On the other side of the counter, blue eyes and blond curls greet him, curious as they take him in, with a name tag pinned to the front of his apron that says Harley. There's also something instantly intriguing about him that Peter can't quite place.
