Oh, he nicked me, Phoenix thought, examining his hand, covered in a concoction of slobber, crumbs, and a small trickle of blood from the side of his palm. There was only a faint impression of teeth, and a small pierce where the other canine entered the meat of his hand.
The poor dog retreated with a little whine, and a tucked tail.
“Hey, hey- it’s okay. Maybe that wasn’t smart. Here.”
He dumped the rest of the bag out on the ground to try and entice the poor thing to eat again, but the sudden movement of his hand simply spooked the canine, and in a blur of fur it bolted, leaving Phoenix with a bleeding, slobbered hand and no snacks. The wound had a strange achy, burning sensation, but Phoenix thought nothing of it.
Perhaps he should have.

There is a child in their bed. Phoenix’s heart leaps into his throat. He peers over at the child, who seems unbothered, sleeping soundly. Gray hair pokes out of the comforter and Phoenix wonders wildly if Miles has some secret relative who needed to spend the night.
Then he calls Miles’s phone.
He hears it ringing from the bedroom. He stares at the wall for another moment. Then he walks back into the bedroom, where the kid is sitting up, and oh. Unless Miles has a secret son-
“Miles?” Phoenix asks, less hysterical than he feels he deserves to be.
Miles frowns at him, and yes, that’s Miles fucking Edgeworth, age…lower than 12.
“Who are you?” he asks, as if he wakes up in strange beds all the time.
“Phoenix Wright,” Phoenix says, feeling crazier than usual. “How old are you?”
“Nine,” Miles says, like it’s obvious, and narrows his eyes. “Phoenix Wright was my friend back in America. I’m not supposed to talk about him.”- Language:

Summary
The light overhead isn't from Minion island's overcast sky but instead a steel plated ceiling shining down fluorescence, glass and plastic bottles rattling on shelves against the walls. Everywhere there's monitors and familiar machinery and the distinct tang of antiseptic, sharp beyond the memory sense of blood and snow. For half a second Law looks at it all very blankly and thinks, What The Hell. Is he dreaming. Is he hallucinating. Is he just plain dead. His sight-line completes the rotation of this impossibility to fall upon speckled jeans and a long sweeping coat. And the man standing in front of Law has the blankest expression Law's ever seen. And the man standing in front of Law has Law's father's face.
Underneath Law's blood-slicked fingers, Cora-san's pulse shudders.
(This is a story where the past and the present collide. Wherein thirteen year old Trafalgar Law and twenty-six year old Rocinante tumble sideways through time-space via the blue desperation of a newly eaten devil fruit, from Minion island to a future distant. Right, unwittingly, onto the submarine deck of a another Law shortly after Doflamingo’s fall.)
