He cared for her deeply, he want her as his wife, she had known that for some time. But to such a degree he struggled for the words to describe the chance he would lose her to time and his obligation to the Emperor? Was she worth that.
“None the less I will ask Maomao do you truly want to become my consort, the only one I will ever take, even if not tonight some night soon” the assertion shocked her, she didn’t know why, she knew that’s how he felt. She couldn’t help but look up from his chest to his face at the certainty he placed in those words. Even with the hesitation he had been riddled with since she first arrived tonight.
