Was it strange to say that I didn’t miss the real world too much sometimes? Of course I missed my mother and father, and my sister Suguha, but moments like this almost made it worth it. In the real world, I don’t think a girl like Asuna would give me a second glance.
No. That was being unkind to her. She was warm and caring and compassionate. I think if she were given the chance, we could’ve been friends there too. But in the real world, Kazuto Kirigaya would never have crossed paths with Asuna, would have never let her in.

Summary
After escaping the death game that was Sword Art Online and rescuing their remaining comrades from the clutches of Nobuyuki Sugou in Alfheim Online, Kirito and Kizmel finally have some time to get settled back into their lives...only to realize that they're now faced with an entirely new battlefield as they and the rest of the SAO Survivors struggle to navigate the real world.
Family, game expansions, and other adventures lay ahead - but so does darkness lurking in the shadows. As ALO looks towards its first major expansion since YMIR's takeover, more games pop up after the release of the Seed, a masked killer rampages in GGO and somewhere in the world, a certain Imp and her friends look to leave their mark before passing on - all the while, Kirito, Kizmel, and their friends and family must deal with what the secrets they carry even while Agent Kikuoka works to bring his vision to fruition.
Note: This is a sequel to both Symphony of Sword and Steel and Fairy Suite.

Summary
When Kirito and Kizmel defeated Heathcliff and ended the death game that was Sword Art Online, the Black Swordsman came face to face with possibly the most daunting loss of his life: that of his beloved wife. Through a miracle, she transcended SAO's destruction, and together they find themselves having to navigate the real world along with the ramifications of her existence in a place that is far different from the Aincrad she knows.
Thankfully, there is a place where they can be together, a place that is both familiar and comfortable: the world of fairies, Alfheim Online. But before they can enjoy their well-deserved rest and adjust to their new lives, they discover that not everyone made it back safely. Some of their old friends and comrades are still missing, and they are the only ones that can find them.
To save their friends, they'll dive head-first back into the virtual world. To finish what they started, they'll return to face their unfinished business, the spectre of Akihiko Kayaba, and the death game of Sword Art Online.
Together they embark on a new adventure spanning two worlds.

Suguha stared at the Nerve Gear in her hands uncertainly. Was she really going to do this? Was she really going to try Sword Art Online with no prior gaming experience whatsoever? She bit her lip. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea…
But then she thought about Kazuto, about the distraction in his voice and the excitement in his eyes whenever he talked about SAO, one of the only times he ever opened up around them anymore. About how animated he was during dinner yesterday, as though he’d forgotten to distance himself in his excitement. About how Kazuto had practically been a ghost during the weeks he’d beta tested the game.
She shoved away her uncertainty. She had to do this. If she could understand just what about gaming so enraptured Kazuto, maybe… maybe they could start bridging the gap between them again.

Or: in an attempt to reconnect with Kazuto, Suguha logs into SAO as Leafa... only to become one of the ten thousand people trapped in the game.

After barely surviving a bitter attack by 2 PKers on the 6th floor, Asuna is left feeling vulnerable and shaken. Kirito too, after almost experiencing the fear of loss and experiencing emotions that he has never felt before, has to rethink what Asuna means to him, and whether what he thinks is right is the thing that he really wants.
Through all the struggles, uncertainty, and fear in this unknown world, the two may just yet connect with the hidden feelings that are buried deep in their hearts.
