Heather was supposed to be mean, and borderline homophobic, not a sweet and sensitive lesbian that was in love with Veronica, though apparently secretly until they were drunk together at a party. Now, Veronica found herself clinging to that side of Heather, though Heather Can't stand the idea of PDA ruining her reputation and having Heather Duke turn on her.
