The court was certain that there was no hope left for Prince Aegon. At twenty years old, the omega betrothed to the future heir of the throne carried the worst reputation among his siblings. Yet no one could have predicted that Jacaerys Velaryon, determined to alter the fate of his betrothed, would bring a new perspective to the omega’s life. Summary
Alicent says a silent prayer to the Gods as she walks into the lake, the cold that bites at her waist until her body grows numb, and she can no longer shiver. She prays for her children, for Rhaenyra and her sons to rest peacefully. Alicent begs the Gods have mercy to forgive her, if not for herself, than to not allow them to suffer. She embraces the touch of death as she plunges below the water, and her lungs scream for air, until she no longer has the energy to fight.
She expects there to be pain, for she deserves it, but there is only calm and darkness as she closes her eyes and embraces the stranger.
But the Gods are horribly cruel, and Alicent opens her eyes once more.
--
The gods give unto Alicent both a blessing and a curse-- she is a child again and Rhaenyra is alive, an alpha, and it only seems to torture her more.

Summary
Rhaenyra Targaryen was the first child born after the death of Balerion the Black Dread, more dragon than girl in truth. Dragons, by nature, are possessive, protective creatures, and Rhaenyra knows that the Realm will not accept her simply because her father declared it to be, and she will not allow her children, even the ones not of her womb, to be harmed.
Her father delights in it. The Realm whisper about her kindness. Otto is his normal self. Gwayne's just along for the ride. Laenor is having a grand old time. Daemon, eventually, despairs because there are so many children. In the end, they'll all be grateful for it, because no brother, no son, would dare steal from the woman who raised him.
