But to see it written, to read the words ‘yielding’, ‘passive’, and ‘doll-like’ and to know they were meant to describe him ignited a sudden, burning anger in his chest.
He pushed himself roughly up from the bed, the journal sliding off his lap to land open at his feet. He paced, the words rattling in his head. It seemed no one, neither his family nor Paul, were willing to accept a version of Julian who wanted. But he couldn’t be that Julian today. He just couldn’t be him anymore.

Summary
Hank has never been a conventional investigator. When his partner chose to stay a machine, he knew he had to do something to prove to him that he was more than just that, even if it was just to him, and decides a little research is in order. Extreme scenarios called for extreme actions.
Connor, meanwhile, has a mission to do, and he won't be failing just because his old partner follows him on to the roof. After that, life was never going to be the same.

For how he’d scan Hank at the end of a long day and frown at what he saw. For the long fingered hand pressing itself against a tense muscle, heated well past the human norm, for the way he’d smile when Hank relaxed into the touch, long lashes dipping low over his eyes...and the low electric buzz that built up under his skin at Connor’s touch, and lingered long after he took his hand away.
