Summary
Zagreus reaches out for Thanatos, taking his hand and pulling him closer. He goes willingly, as if always drawn to Zagreus, wanting to be near him. He kneels beside the bed, running a thumb over Zagreus’ hand, but pauses as he frowns.
Zagreus tugs on his hand again, but Thanatos just looks at him in confusion. Zagreus rolls his eyes before patting the spot on the bed next to him. Heat rises to Thanatos' cheeks as he understands.
Still, he hesitates. Eyes darting between the bed and Zagreus, as if double checking this is really what he wants. And when Zagreus pats the bed again and beckons him closer, he relents.

It is rather distracting, Odile has noticed, to have someone leaning against your shoulder while you’re trying to read. Especially if said someone is no one other than Siffrin.
Granted, she probably could have moved him - and likely should have, preferably before he’d fallen asleep - but now it was too late. She couldn’t move him now. He was like a cat in that regard; much like one shouldn’t disturb a sleeping cat, they shouldn’t disturb a sleeping Siffrin, either. So she was stuck like this.
Not that it’s particularly bad or anything. Siffrin is a warm presence against her side, their soft breaths puffing against her neck as he slept. Even now, nearly a year after they defeated the King, he was still occasionally plagued by bouts of tiredness. The effects of craft exhaustion still lingered.

Mettaton sat at his desk, tongue carefully poking out between his lips and brows furrowed as he wrote.
Distantly, he was aware of his body telling him it needed to charge but he ignored it. He was so close to finishing the latest script, he didn’t have time to plug himself in. Sure, he was tired, but he also knew he’d fall asleep not long after plugging himself in, so he wanted to get this finished first. It was taking a bit longer than he’d thought, but he was so close that surely it wouldn’t take much longer.

The moment the barrier was broken, Mettaton turned to Alphys.
Alphys smiled and, before he could even say a word, practically shooed him away with a knowing look and a “good luck”. He rolled his eyes but turned to go, though not without glancing at Undyne first. She was watching him, eyes narrowed, and he gave a little rueful smile. She looked away and he tried not to feel too hurt.
Perhaps one day, he could work on repairing the little relationship he had with her. They were never super close when he was still just a ghost, but he supposed he ruined what friendship they did have when he left without telling her or Blooky.
Hopefully talking to Blooky would help.

Mettaton froze, his eyes wide. He was glad he was facing away from Undyne, though he wasn't sure how much good it did him. He closed his eyes and resisted the urge to clench his fists.
Right. There was one tiiiiny little detail he forgot. Two, really.
One, Undyne was Napstablook’s neighbor. The moment he turned away to go to Alphys for his body, he hadn’t looked back. He’d never even told Napstablook that he was leaving, too scared of what their reaction would be. He had promised he wouldn’t leave them, but he did.
Two, Undyne knows who Mettaton is. Or at least she did. She knew him before he became Mettaton. And it seemed she recognized him, though how exactly he wasn’t sure. Was it the voice? It had a metallic ting to it that it didn't before, but it was possible.
Or, most likely, she had simply connected the dots he’d foolishly left behind.

He knows how they look, how they’re feeling. It’s the same every time they do this, that same rush of adrenaline before the curtain rises and reveals them. He can hear the crowd, muffled yet still clear in its own way.
