Summary
Hongjoong watched as Seonghwa took his nail polish off, dyed his hair back to black, packed clothes that weren’t too fashionable and would cover up the few tattoos he had, and removed all the earrings from his ears.
It all broke Hongjoong’s heart. Seonghwa was doing all of this because he'd finally agreed to go home to see his parents for the holidays, caving to their guilting pleas of It’s been years, Seonghwa. Don’t you love us? We miss you. Be a good son and come home to see your parents. Seonghwa had been on edge for weeks, nervous and anxious over going to visit them.
As he watched Seonghwa change even his phone wallpaper to some generic pre-installed one, the one he’d had for years of a cute selfie of the two of them from their first date now gone, Hongjoong had asked, “Don’t you think you’re overreacting a little?”
To which Seonghwa had just stared at him and solemnly replied, “You don’t know them, Joong. You don’t know what they’re like.”

"Ahhh what the fuck!"
At Wooyoung's shout, Hongjoong looks up from his phone, craning his head to try and see out the sliding door. When he can’t see anything, he glances back down at his phone, figuring the younger just stubbed his toe or something.
"Hongjoong, there's something in your pool," Wooyoung continues.
"Is it another frog?" Hongjoong asks with a sigh, getting off the couch. He knows there’s no point in trying to get out of dealing with the issue, and he only grumbles a little as he kicks a few empty cans out of his way.
"No it's not a frog," Wooyoung says agitatedly. "Joong you have to come here."

Summary
“You look nervous."
“Let’s tie you up in an unfamiliar place and see how you feel."
“Funny. I would be nervous if I were you.”
“Lucky I’m not you. If you’re going to kill me, why don’t we just get it over with?”
“Oh no, I’m not going to kill you. I don’t kill.”
“But you’re not above capturing helpless strangers."
“You’re a funny man when you’re scared. You’re nowhere near helpless or a stranger to most. I know exactly who you are. The renowned professional criminal known only as Pirate King, a man who made a name for himself as a soloist but is now the leader and founder of the ATEEZ organization, the next up and coming crime ring in the city. You’ve taken down hundreds of corrupt officials and even worse criminals; even if you didn’t kill them, you may as well have with what you’ve reduced them to.”
“If you’re not going to kill me, what do you want? Maybe we could come to an agreement."
"My contract for you and your little organization is the Agony organization. I want you to help me finally put an end to their tyranny.”
Well.
Now that was something he could get behind.

Summary
Pirates spend their lives hunting down treasure, but the most valuable treasure of all isn’t gold or jewels - it’s mermaid scales. After the majority of Captain Kim Hongjoong’s crew is decimated by disease, he has no choice but to turn to the hunting of mermaids to keep himself and his remaining men afloat. When a new pirate joins them, however, he struggles to maintain his control over his crew, his ship, and his emotions.
It’s only a matter of time until Hongjoong’s notorious reputation falls apart, but little does he know that darker plans are at play beneath the surface.
Mermaids can walk on land if they choose, but doing so is practically unheard of due to the risks. Seonghwa is the only living mermaid of his kind left, and after a life of hiding from ruthless hunters, he hatches a plan for revenge. He poses as a pirate and steps ashore for the first time in his life, all with the intent to destroy a certain captain, his crew, and his ship from the inside.
It’s only a matter of time until Seonghwa’s true identity is revealed, but he plans to destroy them all before it comes to that.
