After being increasingly disregarded throughout the shift that was the anniversary of her best friends suicide, Trinity feels the last straw snap inside of her attempts suicide after arriving to an empty home with an empty heart: Her last coherent thought, before the dark became total, was something that felt like relief—a forbidden pleasure she found in following Helen's footsteps into darkness.

Trinity takes a deep breath, steeling herself. “I was wondering whether I could switch to working night shifts. All the time.”
Abbot raises his eyebrows, not actually looking that surprised. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“Just…” avoiding my ex-not-even-girlfriend? Probably not the best thing to say. “Just looking for a new experience. I feel like I could learn a lot from working nights.”
He stares at her for a moment. It’s a little unnerving, and Trinity feels her back straighten instinctively. Then he smiles, clapping his hands together.
“About time.”

Trinity is settling into winter in her shared apartment with Dennis Whitaker, surviving long shifts at the Pitt and pretending her situation with Garcia is casual. The heater is set to sixty-eight. She’s exhausted. She might send a text she wouldn’t normally send. By the time Dennis gets home, the apartment is too warm, the air too heavy, and something is very wrong.
Or, the one where Trinity almost dies, and Garcia realizes she was never as detached as she thought.
