Summary
Jack has, for as long as he can remember, used self-harm as a coping mechanism for the trauma he received at war and during childhood. However, he has been using it more often lately to control the damage and its effects as they creep up on him as the 10-year anniversary of his amputation approaches.
Robby is forced to see Jack, steady, calm and stable Jack, in a new light and control the damage he has done to himself over so much time, resulting in complicated conversations and feelings.
Neither Robby nor Jack knows if their relationship will survive before it even begins.

Robby has returned from his sabbatical. Over a few short weeks he tries to reintegrate himself into the Pitt, but so many things have changed. Some of the faces are different, the procedures have altered, and he isn't the same man as the one who left.
