Geralt turned incredulously to stare at his friend - Jaskier was still stomping solidly along, shaking the dusting of snow off his heavy boots every few steps as he talked. "Think about it like a boat. If you replace the mast, you wouldn't say it's a new boat, but if you replaced *all* the parts, one at a time, it would be a different boat at the end, ergo - witchers."
Geralt glanced at Roach beside him for moral support - but she just huffed at him, offering no help at all.
He resigned himself to another strange debate.OR
Geralt and Jaskier banter and philosophise while heading up the mountain where they'll be wintering at kaer morhen together for the first time.

Summary
The executioner scowls. She grabs Davenport by the hair and yanks him over to the stone where he'll kneel and the blade will drop. The crowd cheers, and the swift kick to the back of his knees is as clear a message as he needs to kneel over.
He knows that to resist is to endanger his crew so he goes down with sealed lips and as much dignity as he can muster, and sends up a prayer to gods that burned away with his home planet. He doesn't see the axe raised.
"Wait!"

Davenport gets caught stealing the Light of Creation, and is forced to realise how important he is to his crew.
