Miranda shouldn't have been able to surprise him anymore.
After decades under her thumb and all the horrors she'd put him through, what other curveballs could she possibly have left to throw his way?
Well.. forcing him to babysit a failed experiment - some belligerent bitch with an obvious death wish - wouldn't have been his first guess, but the fact that his mother's true intention was for him to breed a child for her to experiment on was less surprising than he wanted to admit.
And the lab rat was even less keen on the idea than he was.Assuming he was simply stuck with this useless drain on his time until Miranda returned from wherever the hell she'd flown off to - a change in the Lycans piqued his curiosity.
It didn't matter if you were a villager or Lord, those mutts would rip your face off if given even half a chance... but they listened to her.
Maybe she wouldn't be so useless after all.TLDR; Miranda wants a baby. Both parties say nah. Lycans get involved to bulk up the rebellion. Karl learns how to be a person. Will get spicy and also violent. Yay!
