“Astarion is chilling in camp with either Shadowheart or Lae’zel (both is possible too but I don’t see them chatting together in act 1). They are both annoyed by the much too friendly Tav, helping everybody they meet, not prioritising their tadpole problem enough in their view. But everybody likes Tav. They are bringing more and more people into their camp, and Astarion and gossip partner are sitting away from the group, rolling their eyes at them. Tav just came into camp for the night, bringing in yet another mouth to feed. Astarion and gossip partner are gossiping and judging the new one mean girls style.”

When Viktor finally asks why Jayce stayed behind inside the Anomaly with him, Jayce stares at him as though he’s supremely disappointed by the question— as if Viktor has betrayed his own brilliance by asking something so irredeemably stupid. “How could I not? We’re partners.”
Partners, Jayce calls them. Not for the first time, Viktor wonders: Partners in what?
